Don’t Get Sidetracked!

Proverbs 4:27 says,“ Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. (NLT) We’re all on a journey. We train, transform and transition through life. As we live and learn, we change, grow, and go from one season to another. We start off in one place, but we move forward to another; and from there the process continues. God created us on purpose for a purpose but we each have our own journey and different path to travel down. The goal is for us to experience the many dimensions of Jesus and strive to leave a legacy of God’s love in the earth!

During our journey, many opportunities will present themselves for us to go down different roads. Some roads are meant for us, but others not and must be avoided. Proverbs tells us not to get “sidetracked.” In other words, we must not get distracted or allow ourselves to be diverted away from our destination. Wisdom tells us to keep our feet from following evil.

Evil paths will sidetrack our journey. Evil will divert us off the right path and many times it doesn’t even appear to do at first. But if we continue down the wrong path, the further away from the main journey we become. Evil isn’t just a path of ratchet living, but it’s any path that shifts us away from righteousness. Fear is a path; offense if a path; bitterness, un-forgiveness, hatred, cheating, greed, pride all paths that can divert us and lead us down a dark and rocky road.

We avoid the dark paths by looking straight ahead. Prov 4:25-26 tells us to “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.” Fixing our eyes on Jesus for He’s our example in all things; the Author and Finisher of our faith. And if you ever come to a crossroad on your journey and you’re unsure of which path to take… be still, don’t make hasty decisions. Here’s my strategy👉🏿 study the Word because it’s a lamp and a guide to your feet! Pray and listen… He will always lead you!

Want even more good news? If you find yourself walking down the wrong road, there’s always HOPE in Jesus. Our steps are ordered by the Lord! #RealTalk 🗣There is grace available even for our missteps! It’s never too late to turn around aka repent. True repentance means to make a decision to turn around, to face a new direction. Ps 40:2 says “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.”

Don’t get sidetracked. Stay on track by keeping your eyes on Jesus. Guard your heart so you can properly assess God’s will on your journey through this life. With His grace and mercy following you and as you seek His will in all you do, He promises to show you which path to take.
